Government of Canada invests over $2.2 million to strengthen North Bay’s manufacturing resilience amid shifting market conditions

(NORTH BAY, ON) Pauline Rochefort, Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of State (Rural Development), and Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, announced a Government of Canada investment of $2,229,327 from the Regional Tariff Response Initiative to help five North Bay and area businesses respond to global trade pressures and build for the future.

“This $2.2 million investment will help five prominent local businesses respond to global trade pressures, modernize their operations and continue to be more competitive. In addition to strengthening Northern Ontario’s manufacturing resilience, this funding will help ensure key industries can continue to thrive and grow collectively.” said MP Rochefort who made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Provided through FedNor and the Government of Canada’s Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), these investments will help bring several important projects to life. Specifically, the funding will help Premier Mining Products Inc. and Pilot Diamond Ltd boost productivity, diversify, expand into new markets, strengthen supply chains, and grow domestic trade so they can stay competitive and resilient in a shifting global landscape.

In addition, the FedNor funding will help Miller Technology Inc. Mincon Canada and Old Forge Manufacturing to modernize their operations, maximize efficiencies and becoming more competitive to counter rising costs driven by global tariffs and trade instability.
